Away, to the Walmart!

The sound of running footsteps sounded from Saviour's Lane as a sixteen year old redhead girl dragged a younger brown haired boy, supposedly her brother, behind her, both of them carrying weapons; the girl an old katana, the boy two ancient looking daggers. "Where are we going, Amber?" the boy asked his sister.

"The Walmart, Jamie. I've heard Mom talk about it a lot, and I heard that the others are living there now. Remember the others? We used to play with them when we were smaller." Amber replied, dragging her brother along behind her.

Jamie nodded and followed his sister, their two cats Shadow and Ash racing after them, running towards the Walmart, the only place where Amber thought they'd be safe. Jamie hoped they'd be welcomed there, not cast out, like he was afraid of.

Hope had been out thinking to herself when she heard the voices of the siblings. Quickly, she turned to the direction they were coming from to see their silhouettes. "Hello?" She called out, grabbing onto her strangely shaped blade.

Jamie stopped when he heard Hope's voice. "Amber. Is someone there?" he asked shakily.

Amber stopped too, and looked ahead. "It's okay, Jamie." she said when she saw Hope. "It's one of the other kids!" she called, running up to Hope. "Hey!" she called. "Over here!"

Hope finally saw Jamie and Amber as they ran up to her. "Oh, hello!" She greeted with slight caution in her voice. "Who might you be?"

"I'm Amber, and his is my brother, Jamie. We're Autumn Mercury's kids. Our mother lived at the Walmart when the first apocalypse started."

Jamie nodded, looking at Hope. He hoped she'd know what the hell was going on, cause he sure was confused. All his life, they'd lived in that house they'd just fled from, completely safe, but now they were all running, and hiding out, and, and...fighting. With actual weapons. Jamie looked at the two daggers he was holding, one in each hand. He barely knew where these things came from, let alone how to use them! Jamie shook his head clear, and looked at his sister again.

"Autumn..." Hope echoed. "Oh! I remember hearing about her!" She blinked as she looked back at Amber. "Sorry, my mother lived there too. As did my father, but I never got to meet him..." Suddenly she shook her head to clear it of the bad memories before she grabbed Amber's hand and looked at Jamie. "Well, the rest of us are back at that same Walmart unfortunately. You can always come join us!"

"Oh, thank God!" Amber replied. "We would be very glad to join you and the others. I'm sure our mother would have wanted us there." Jamie nodded in agreement.

With a large smile, Hope started back down the street the way she had come. Holding her blade in her right hand, she looked back at them. "Have you guys run into any shadows lately?" She asked to start a conversation.

"A few." Amber said. "They were just small ones, though. Easily fought off. I'm glad we didn't run into bigger ones."

She nodded, understanding. "Yeah me too. I hate these stupid things. I always wonder why they even had to come back..." As she said that, the dimly lit sign of the Walmart came into view.

"I don't think they even left in the first place." Jamie piped up. "After our parents beat them off, they just built themselves up bigger, didn't they? That way, they could come back stronger, with more fighting power."

Amber nodded. "That's probably just what they did." she said, looking up at the Walmart.

"you're probably right..." she grumbled as they got closer to the doors of the super store. when they reached it, the doors groaned as they slid open with trouble. "here we are!"

"Wow." Jamie's eyes widened, as he took in the place. "And to think Mom would have lived here."

"Yeah." Amber said, looking at Hope. "How many of the others are here?" she asked.
