Boomerang, GO!

"We have a generator powered by gas." he informed her. "As long as I keep filling it with gas the lights will work."

"Lucky..." She muttered. "But it's really cool that you live here. It's probably the nicest place in New York right now." That suddenly made her think back to the other day in the mall when she was in the pet store. With a shudder, she pushed the memories away.

Dylan shrugged. "I'm not usually in my house so that's the only reason why it is clean." he led her to the kitchen. "I presume you can guess what this is." Many different vases littered the room with different flowers, most of them roses. It gave off a weird aroma as the smells blended.

She walked into the kitchen and looked around at each individual flower. Each one was even lovelier than the last, but the smell was quite strange. "Where did you get all the roses?" She questioned as she remembered the one that still rested behind her ear.

Dylan pulled out a yellow rose from his jacket and put it into a vase. "Magic." he told her.

She watched him pull the rose out in amazement. "You have got to teach me how to do that one day," She told him. "Because that's just awesome!"

Dylan laughed. "Maybe." he said. "But for now, we shall continue the tour."

She nodded. "Fine." She continued to follow him through the house happily, almost all feelings of uneasiness slowly draining out of her.

He showed her his personal library. Which was filled with supernatural books and stories, along with how to's on magic tricks.

Hope walked from one bookshelf to the other, taking time to look at almost every book. "Wow, you have a lot of books. Have you read them all?" She asked curiously, pulling one out that was about some magic tricks. She carefully flipped through some of the pages.

Dylan nodded. "Yes. My parents homeschooled me. I had a lot of time on my hands to read."

"Oh. That's cool. I was home-schooled too. My mom didn't really teach me a whole lot, though. It was mainly about language arts and literature, and of course history." She muttered as she slid the book back into place on the shelf. "Actually, she didn't really do a whole lot at all... but who could blame her? She had to live through this mess the first time."

Dylan nodded. "Yeah... well... My dad was a teacher before this so he was used to the routine. It actually made him happy to teach me. My mom taught me the magic tricks."

"...Which you must teach me, by the way," She continued from his sentence with a small grin on her face. "It'll be entertaining trying to learn all that kind of stuff."

Dylan's face looked grim. But he masked it. "Magic..." he cut himself off. "Maybe." he told her. "Let us continue the tour." He started into the hallway and up a stair case.

It took her a minute to start following him again for she felt like she had just said the wrong thing. It seemed that the whole talk about magic brought back some kind of reminder of something.. She thought it best to let it rest for now. (RHYME POWERS ACTIVATE) With quiet steps, she quickly caught up to him on the stairs.

He showed her his parents' room, across from that, the guest room, and farther down the hall was his bedroom. It wasn't anything special. Just filled with more books and a small bed that was made. No clothes were out. No posters hung on the walls. It told no tales of who he was.

She walked from one room to the other, glancing quickly in each one until they got to his room. She looked around curiously at the plain room. "Is that all you do is read?" She asked, staring at the rest of his books.

Dylan nodded. "Tv, as they say, rots your brain." He smirked. "And what else is there to do but fill your mind with all the knowledge you can acquire?" He got closer to her, his chest barely touching her's. "Unless there is something else you have in mind?" His eyebrows raised.

The closeness of their bodies made her cheeks turn pink once again. She had started to take a step back but her body was frozen where it was. She couldn't seem to find her balance. "Well... not necessarily..." She muttered quietly as her gaze moved away from his. "I-I guess that reading isn't all that bad.."

Dylan chuckled and stepped away from her. He picked up a brass key and walked over to her. He held it out to her.

As the color faded out of her cheeks and she calmed down some, she looked at the key in his hand. "What's that for?" She asked, grabbing it carefully.

"The door." He replied. He winked at her. "Anytime you wanna come back and see me, Dear."

"Oh, um.. thanks," She replied, turning it over in her hand to look at the other side. "Well then I will try to visit when I can. But this also means you need to come visit me too."

Dylan laughed and sat at the small wooden desk that a swivel chair. "I am not welcome there."
