Parking Lot Scares.

Noah didn't breath. He didn't do anything except lay there. Eyes closed, he listened to the shadows charge through the piles of dead bodies. He didn't want to be caught, and therefore, was pretending to be dead, created a small wound at his chest area with his morning star. It stung, but it was still better than being killed, or worse...

A walk in the dark did just the thing for Marie-Claire every time. She had one hand in her hoodie pocket while swinging her hammer around with the other. The girl shuddered, as she moved behind a tree near the plaza. It was creepy how many shadows hung around there.
Suddenly, she saw something that made her heart stop. Noah lay on the ground. Something dark stained his shirt, and the French girl knew almost immediately that it was blood.

Noah heard footsteps, thinking it was the approaching shadows. That was fast, since they should have been a block down still, but he didn't move.

Marie put a hand over her mouth, trying not to cry. Noah couldn't be.... No, she wasn't about to believe it.
"Noah!" she whispered hoarsely, tiptoeing away from the tree.

Noah's eyes widened. He blinked, looking at her, and gave her a hard 'what are you doing here?' stare. The shadows were close. He wouldn't talk.

Her blue eyes widened as she noticed the shadows getting closer. Not taking her eyes off the shadows, Marie backed up slowly. Unfortunately, she stepped on a twig; it snapped loudly, giving away her presence.

The shadows were alert, hissing and running at her. Noah stayed still, though. He had a plan.

"Great," Marie muttered angrily. She raised her hammer, managing to whack two of the advancing shadows in the process.

There were five. The three remaining jumped on her, scratching at her skin. Noah got up, and carefully whacked one off of her.

The girl cried out, covering her face with one arm and swinging her nasty weapon with the other. She took the second to last one out blindly, then fell backwards onto the ground.

They scratched her pretty bad. Noah pulled the last one off, killing it.

Marie lay on the ground, moaning. She tried clutching at her wounds, but her arms hurt too much.
"Stupid shadows," she grumbled, letting her hammer fall from her fingertips.

"Sorry." murmured Noah, holding his own self-inflicted wound. "I thought attacking from the rear would be best to take them out quickly."
Blood seeped through his fingers. "Let's go back. Teal can bitch to us about being careful." he added with amusement.

She chuckled once, then grimaced. Slowly, Marie pushed herself to a stand position. Trying to seem unconcerned, she examined her arms.
"Well, there goes this jacket," she commented. The cloth hung in shreds from her bleeding skin, and would not keep her warm or dry during extreme weather.

Noah faked a smile. "One of the many reasons we live in a Walmart." he stated.

Marie laughed.
"Yeah, I suppose so," she agreed, then shivered. It was getting colder as the months went on, and blood loss did nothing to help. "Let's hurry."

The door slid open. Teal was suffering from a hangover, due to the party last night. He had ice pressed against his head, and gave a tired glare to them as they walked in. "You've got to be fucking kidding me." he sighed.

Marie flinched when he cussed, but said nothing.
"Sorry we're actually trying to save lives," she retorted, dropping her hammer behind a shelf almost the instant she was inside.

Teal didn't care. "Just get inside and I'll be in in a few hours." he groaned, falling backwards.

"Seriously!" Marie-Claire yelled. She threw her arms up in exasperation, but only made it halfway before stopping. "Let's just go," she mumbled.

Noah pushed the door to the Infirmary open. Teal didn't mean the hour thing. One Advil and he'd be in.

Marie followed, then sat on one of the tables. The girl hung her head, her black bangs hanging in front of her face.
"How does this always happen?" she wondered out loud.

"The shadows are attracted to you, it seems." Noah teased. "Maybe it's because you're so beautiful."
He shook his head. "Sorry. Me thinking aloud again." he gasped, holding his chest. Teal walked in minutes later.

Blushing, Marie smiled across at Noah. When Teal walked in, she looked up at him.
"What are you going to do?" she asked automatically.

"Just bandage up your arms a tad." Teal said. "Maybe rip off all your skin since it's tainted."
The last one was a joke, but there was no sarcastic implication.
